POWDER ROOM RENOVATION

The first project we have tackled in our house was turning a closet off of the front hall into a powder room. We wanted to revive the room to feel like it was original to the house. We also wanted it to feel welcoming as we knew the door would almost always be open for light and would be a wash-up spot for guests when we entertain. We were looking for old world charm with some modern sophistication… a pretty spot to put on lipstick and wash hands…among other things.

The previous owner had used this space as a closet but the room still had the plumbing for a bathroom.

This went from a forgotten place to a lovely moment in our house. We chose the paint color for the walls by color matching the ocean stones from our favorite beach nearby. For the sink we decided on a custom built-in counter in carrera marble as the room has so many angles and sits off the front hall. We had a feeling the long counter would also be a nice spot to clip flowers from the garden. There is a beautiful powder room that was designed by my great grandfather that inspired the vanity details. We found a sweet marble fabricator around the corner and he was able to use a remnant for the vanity and dial in the details.
